AARP’s Rewards for Good program can get you mega discounts on hotels by earning points without having to spend any money. All you have to do to get rewards is read articles and take quizzes on AARP’s Rewards for Good website.
Taking lifestyle quizzes on AARP instead of Buzzfeed can get you up to $100 off a hotel room – no purchase required. It’s just one of the multitude of benefits AARP offers. Other Rewards for Good goodies include gift cards, eBay-like auctions for items like a Marc Jacobs bag or FitBit, and sweepstakes. All for just reading their short articles and quizzes!
I cannot stress enough that AARP is literally giving away lots of somethings for nothing other than your eyes on its site. You don’t even have to pass the quizzes. I took one this morning, scored 40% and got 300 bonus points.
You don’t have to be an AARP member (or AARP-aged, just older than 18) to rack up points and prizes on the Rewards for Good site. But, if you’re at least 50 years old and sign up for an AARP membership, you get 2250 bonus points to play with—more than worth the $16 annual membership, which also gets you discounts on dining, hotels, entertainment and more. If you’re not an AARP member, you still get 1500 bonus points.
Save up to 45% on Hilton Hotels with AARP’s Rewards For Good Program
There are hundreds of travel deals on the Rewards for Good website. We found a 45% off Hilton hotel deal today. With my 5,310 points, I can knock off $102 from a stay at the Hilton-Baltimore, which has a view of Camden Yards – would have been perfect for watching the Orioles if they had won the game last night.
The Rewards for Good program allows you to use your points for travel or daily sweepstakes. Your points never expire.
We love AARP’s Rewards for Good program, which we’ve written about before. Below are some basics of the program.
BASICS OF AARP REWARDS FOR GOOD
Creating your Login is simple. I have found that AARP that did not send me emails to join after I signed up for this free program. If I choose to join AARP I would earn 50% more points than a non-member.
Here’s how it works:
- Register or Log-in. Once you are registered with AARP.org, you’re ready to start earning points.
- Earn points on AARP.org by using planning tools (like retirement and long-term care calculators), answering quizzes about such topics as health and finances, and more – they’re easy to spot by looking for the Rewards for Good badge. You can even link your Fitbit device to Rewards for Good and earn points when you reach your fitness milestones. So you get rewarded for staying healthy.
- Redeem points for rewards from select brands, local offers, gift cards, auctions, sweepstakes and more.
That’s all there is to it. And you use your points on:
- Savings on brand-name merchandise
- Special deals from local merchants
- Live auctions on everything from Beats Wireless Headphones to gift cards
- Entries in AARP Rewards for Good sweepstakes for the chance to win prizes like electronics and vacations
AARP’s website is full of interesting articles and before you know it you will have thousands of free points. It keeps track of the points you are earning as you navigate their website. Some of the quizzes were fun and they are usually just a single true or false question. You can find out the answer instantly and decide if you want to go to the next question. There are so many interesting articles and it has made navigating the AARP website a lot less confusing and more engaging.
FYI, you earn points when you join or renew your AARP membership, too. Here are just a few of the areas of the website you can explore to earn points fast:
There are many ways to redeem your points. There are local offers of dining, entertainment and shopping. You’ll find free food offers with TCBY, Pizza Boli’s, and Taco Bell among others. There were 2,550 dining offers within 35 miles from my house that included American, Asian, Italian, and Mexican food. There was also a casual and fine dining option that included a dinner theatre value of $15 off the regular price by redeeming 1,500 points. You can go in the menu bar and type in your range from your house and the search will give you all of the options that you have locally.
The sweepstakes continue to impress us. AARP is currently running a $500 in gift cards giveaway — Best Buy + Overstock.com + Home Depot that will go to 2 winners. It only requires you to redeem 2 points to enter, and you can enter as many times as you wish until the deadline. The sweepstakes change daily, and they make it easy keep track of all the sweepstakes that you’re entered in at the time.
There are live auctions for merchandise. You can bid on a Michael Kors Hamilton 18K Saffiano East/West Satchel with a retail value of $298 and free shipping. The point bid looks high but remember you didn’t spend any money to earn your current balance. Just spending time on the AARP site and reading and taking short quizzes will get you to free stuff.
You can also bid on gift cards that include Amazon.com, Kohl’s, Barnes & Noble, Bloomingdale’s, and Target. The value of the gift cards is displayed and you can see the current bid and when the auction ends. Above that is your point total, so you can see if you have enough points in your account to bid.
If you are looking for something more immediate, you can get gift cards for travel, dining and shopping from places like Avis, Applebee’s, Macy’s, TJ Maxx and Sephora.
The travel was the best part of the program in our opinion. There are savings with hotels, car rentals and activities. You can search by country, city, and your dates of travel. In addition to the Baltimore hotel deal above, other top travel deals right now is a stay at the Courtyard Philadelphia City Avenue for $91 a night (a 39% savings).
Visit the AARP website and search for the Rewards for Good program. Just signing up is enough to get you started. Here at Point Savvy, we like any opportunity to earn points without having to spend any money at all. That’s why this program is one of our favorites.
